The sentiment of calling another person's art soulless is a useless way to qualify a drawing. soul isnt a base unit, neither it is a unit of quantity at all. ive always thought that theres an inseparable tie from every work to its artist. every work inevitably bears the imprint of its maker, however faint or deliberate, like an accumulation of their entire being and life painted on a medium.
while soul is often meant to describe depth and originality, i found that calling a work "soulless" strayed from the work itself as it has shifted to describes the artists more. theres a faux esotoric intelligence in every person i met who thinks this way, a cynical posture playing the role of thoughtfull insight. theres no "life" in art, but there is always "life" in the artist, the "life" in an artist is what i always look forward to rather than the work itself.
however, by thinking this way, by condemning the very people i think as misantrophic, i risk of becoming a total misantrophist myself. it can be concluded that by thinking this way, i equate my distate for an artwork as the total disdain for its creator, which isnt true =_= i really cant put my finger on how i think about it at the current moment, even as im writing this i feel laced with faux intelligence myself, i dont know how to articulate this at all.
i suppose my real conflict is that i can never talk about art without projecting my own self into it. mochi, mochi. art is all about "soul" afterall.

Whenever i want to get something done I wear my formal clothes and let the feeling of the suffocating fabrics to make me work. its not really suffocaitng, actually, it just gets me going. I'd like to wear my uniform, but well, i need them to be clean to when i actually need them =__= My mother does this too, quite often ever since i was a child, so maybe it runs in the family
